Wedding Bells? Consider Crafting

If you or someone you know is getting married soon or has recently gotten engaged, consider crafting some of the things you’ll need for the wedding. By crafting, you can save a lot of money in the long run and have more control over the results. Many brides and their families also enjoy spending time together doing these crafts. It’s just one of the many options you’ll have when you begin planning a wedding.

Create crafts for weddings The first thing you should consider crafting when you are planning a wedding is the invitations. Invitations can be very expensive, and most people do not keep them anyway, so if you want to get the most bang for your buck, try making them yourself. Start with a simple design, and use techniques such as embossing to create beautiful effects on the paper. If you or someone in your family knows a lot about rubber stamping, crafting invitations will not be difficult. You can also consider using similar designs for crafting thank you cards to be sent after the wedding is over.

Another thing you can craft yourself is the floral arrangements to be used in the wedding and at the reception. Consider all the flowers you’ll need-the bride will have a large bouquet, and each bridesmaid will have a smaller one. The groomsmen will also probably need a flower each and you’ll need a number of arrangements to set around the church and reception hall. If you want live flowers for all of these, crafting them yourself may not be such a good idea, since you’ll have to do this very close to the wedding. However, if you’re using silk flowers, you may be able to do some of this yourself. You can also help with other decorations in your spaces, like making bows and custom tablecloths.

At wedding receptions, there is usually a centerpiece of some sort on each table as well. This can be candles, flowers, bows, glass pieces, or a number of other things as well. Go with your own colors and feel if you want to craft these yourself. If your wedding is on the beach, for example, use seashells in your centerpieces. If you have an elegant winter wedding, snowflakes might be etched on the vases that hold evergreens. You can more control over your choices when you craft things for your wedding instead of purchasing them or paying others to do it, so consider this great option.
